The Committee on Education and Continuing Education (CECE) acts as an advisory body for Axxon BCIG - MATHERA.be so that her advice can be led further to the official bodies (Federal Public Service for Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment , FPS Health, RIZIV) and the working groups of the Federal Board of Physiotherapy.
CECE provides key support, guidance and advice for physiotherapists with particular competency in Manual Therapy and for physiotherapists with special interest in Manual Therapy. As mentioned in the webpage IFOMPT- committee , the Belgian recognition as Manual therapist is regulated by the Law on the Particular Qualifications in Physiotherapy (Min.conc. 25-04-2014) and the Federal and Regional authorities.
CECE provides information about the regulations and legislation concerning recognition of the Particular Qualification “Manual Therapy”
CECE has established 2 registers: a register of Academic Education in Manual Therapy and a register of Continuing Education in Manual Therapy. These registers serve as a resource for physiotherapists who want to attend an educational programme in Manual Therapy in Belgium and for physiotherapists with particular competency in Manual Therapy to stay recognized.
- As of January 1, 2017 only physiotherapists with diploma of Academic Education in Manual Therapy can be recognized as physiotherapists with particular competency in Manual Therapy
- The register of Continuing Education in Manual Therapy is also important. The preservation of the recognition is limited in time (5 years) and the manual therapist has to provide proof of continuing education (200 credit points within 5 years). For this reason, a listing /register of all Continuing training activities provided by education institutes, associations, etc. is very important for all physiotherapists with particular competency in Manual Therapy who want to stay recognized.
